Our times call for a switch towards a more engaging model of leadership. This new leadership shall leverage all forms of human intelligences and skills: cognitive but also social, emotional, practical and technological.
Blending tradition for excellence and research-based innovation, FORWARD COLLEGE offers a holistic education designed for bright students who wish to bring about positive change.
New Leadership
Society and Businesses are evolving from hierarchical structures where leadership is about reaching positions of power into communities and networks where leadership is about engaging people for a shared purpose across areas of expertise, cultures, social backgrounds, and organisations.
This engagement-based leadership reflects the changing aspirations of younger generations who wish to make change happen here and now, of employees wanting to feel engaged rather than “managed”, of citizens who seek to participate more actively in decision-making processes.
Engagement-based leadership is relevant for business organisations that are increasingly decentralised, co-operative, and immersed in complex ecosystems. It is also more relevant for tackling highly complex challenges in areas including ecology, geo-politics, and economic inequality where top down approaches are proving ineffective.
Based on All Human Intelligences
Engagement-based leadership emphasises the central importance of human processes, requiring it to draw on the full range of Human Intelligences:
“Training promising students into
developing all of these Human Intelligences
will nurture a powerful yet diverse set of values, beliefs, knowledge, and skills that
are the key components of engagement-based leadership.”

Combining tradition and innovation
To foster a holistic development of Human Intelligences, Forward College builds on the foundations of traditional academic excellence developed by centuries-old academic institutions- e. g. Oxbridge Colleges and American colleges of liberal arts - combined with innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
By tradition of excellence we refer to :
The quality of the academic curriculum designed by top academic institutions (LSE, Kings, UCL…).
Forward Faculty members all display excellent academic accomplishments in intercultural settings and invest 10% of their time on professional development.
High Faculty to student ratio (#8 in Europe) to allow Small group teaching and one on one tutoring.
A culture of pastoral care, inclusion, and mutual support. We believe that exceptional academic performance is facilitated by a supportive teaching culture and a wider spirit of collegiality.
By innovation, we mean developing multiple teaching strategies, whose effectiveness has been proven by the latest research in education, development, and neuroscience:
Flipped Classroom where students progressively start learning through guided individual exploration, exchanges in small teams, individual tests and more formal class discussions where students enhance their understanding. This approach has been proven to significantly enhance learning performance and learning autonomy.
Project-based Learning: turning theory into practice and making knowledge operational. This will allow you to develop your sense of initiative and strategic thinking through first-hand experience.
Personal Development: benefiting from dedicated coaching sessions and developing techniques for stress management, decision making, complex problem solving, and emotional awareness.
Structured Peer Learning: to develop your communication and collaboration skills, team-spirit, empathy, and self-confidence.
Intensive Intercultural Exposure, broadening your views, developing your personal adaptability, and fostering your ability to engage constructively with cultural difference.
Quality Assurance
FORWARD COLLEGE is setting up a sophisticated quality assurance system to ensure the highest standards in teaching, academic performance, personal fulfilment, and career development.
Our external Quality Assurance Committees oversee all aspects of our students’ experience (teaching & learning, student life, physical and mental health), as well as talent development and internal processes. They consist of high level academics and professionals :
The Committees are supported by an external auditor and the FORWARD Research, Design, and Development Team that closely assesses our programmes and provides recommendations based on its observations and the latest research on teaching and development.
The QA Committees will produce and publish an annual report to provide transparency to students, parents, alumni, recruiters, academic partners and the wider public. We believe transparency and accountability are the best ways to ensure the highest standards and deliver lasting change in the Higher Education sector.
