Meet some students from our exceptional founding cohort:
Yohana enrolled in our Economics and Politics BSc. She decided to join Forward College for its personalised approach to teaching. At Forward, she knew she wouldn’t be treated as just a number and would be given the opportunity to craft her bachelor based on her own interests. Working on topics she is passionate about is how, she feels, she can make an impact in the world. Currently, Yohana is also an EU Climate Pact Ambassador. Yohana is passionate about law, arts, philosophy and volunteering.
Leo is a half-German, half-French student from France who is going to study the BSc in Economics and Politics. Leo is driven by the idea of helping others. He is a member of Protection Civile de Paris for which he had gone through a very selective process. He has carried more than 500 hours of service from ensuring food supply to associations impacted by COVID lockdown measures, setting up first-aid posts during major events or acting as EMT in an ambulance. In March 2021 Leo became one of the youngest Team Leaders in the organization.
Bogna is a student from Poland who is going to study BSc in Psychology. Bogna was a leader of a social project called #dreamSeed - a project that gave mentally disabled children the opportunity to express their dreams and encouraged them to talk about what they'd like to achieve in the future. The workshops were organized for hundreds of disabled children in schools and got awarded one of the best 15 impact projects in Poland.
Daniel is a student from Hungary who is going to study the BSc in Economics and Politics or the BSc in Politics and International Relations. Daniel is engaged in community service and sports. He and his 2 friends have been organizing a cultural festival to give back life to a forgotten area in Hungary. The festival has been so successful that it had attracted more than 200 people and this year they expect it to host around 600 (providing there are no restrictions because of COVID).
Péter is a student from Hungary who is going to study BSc in Economic and Politics. Peter is highly engaged in politics. He is a local branch leader at TizenX, the youth organization of the Hungarian political party Momentum. His main job was to organize events, motivate and encourage people to campaign. His actions increased the number of active participants in the youth organization from 3 to 13. Peter is also the editor of the party's weekly newsletter.
Kitana enrolled in our Politics and International Relations BSc. She joined Forward College because of the innovative way of teaching and the focus on practical skills. She also found it important to go to an international university that offers a personal development programme. In this programme, she will learn how to manage stress, how to decipher emotions and address them, as well as how to make decisions. In her free time she likes to travel, explore new places, and exercise.
Emirhan enrolled in our Economics and Politics BSc. He joined Forward College for the opportunity to study in 3 different countries which would give him the chance to step out of his comfort zone and connect with people from different cultures. For his Business Leadership project, Emirhan is building a platform to connect NGOs with volunteers. When he’s not studying, he likes to travel and cook.
Iris is a student from Finland who is going to study BSc in Psychology at Forward College. She has broad interests including Scouts, the piano and kick-boxing. Iris Kallio wrote a book about how to play the piano and guitar: “Learn to play! Drums, piano and guitar”. She was selling her books door to door as well as organizing teaching days for kids. Iris is currently the treasurer of her school Student Concil and is involved in the European Ambassador Program where she co-wrote a submission on terrorism.
Timur enrolled in our Data Sciences and Business Analytics BSc. When he asked around how he could be successful in life, people answered: gain experience. That’s why Timur joined Forward College. Studying in 3 countries as well as combining an Academic Bachelor with a Business and Leadership Bachelor was the best way for him to gain both the practical skills and knowledge to become a leader in tomorrow’s world. He is trying to find solutions to help people from disadvantaged backgrounds to better integrate in society for his Business and Leadership project. Timur is passionate about entrepreneurship, economics, mathematics and sports.
Nathalie is from the Netherlands and enrolled in our BSc in Psychology. She decided to join Forward College because she was conscious about the shortcomings of the current learning system. She is fascinated by Forward's approach, which seems to fill these gaps by focusing on a growth mindset through personalised education on all fronts, enabling the students to become the best person they can be. For her Entrepreneurial Leadership project, Nathalie is working on a project called Magic Bag of Friends, which is aiming to restore the power of community by helping people cultivate meaningful and lasting connections, and make friends for life. Moreover, Nathalie truly believes that anyone can change the world, but this is only possible if they have support. She is passionate about many things, but her big dream is to realize key aspects in society such as social equity, mental wellbeing, diversity and inclusion.
Max enrolled in our Data Sciences and Business Analytics BSc. He joined Forward College because he wanted to gain international experience and to work on real-life projects. For his Business and Leadership project he is focusing on solutions to reduce our carbon footprint. Max loves to surf and play tennis.
Anais enrolled in our Politics and International Relations BSc. She chose to study at Forward College because she wanted both the international experience and a place that would give her the skills to make a positive impact in the world. That is why she chose to focus on “Gender Equality” for her Bachelor of Business and Leadership. Along the way, she will gain project management skills and key business techniques to turn an idea into a reality. In her free time, Anaïs loves to sail and meet new people.
Sophia enrolled in our Psychology BSc. She joined Forward College because she wanted to broaden her perspectives by studying and living in 3 different countries. For her Bachelor in Business and Leadership, Sophia is doing a project about a sense of community, belonging and well-being in an underprivileged neighbourhood of Lisbon. In her free time, she likes to play the violin, guitar and ukulele as well as develop her photography skills.
Niklas enrolled in our Data Science and Business Analytics BSc. He joined Forward College because he believes that it is a unique opportunity for developing a wide variety of skills and intelligences. He also thinks that the experience he gains by doing two bachelors will give him more chances in the job market in the future.
Aida is a student from Finland who is going to study BSc in Politics and International Relations. She is highly engaged in citizen engagement and creative activities. She was a participant in HELIMUN Helsinki Model United Nations and Red Cross Nordis MUN. Along with her friend, she created an organization called “Sustainability for Earth and Art” which goal is to send out the message that art can be one of the main ways to solve problems humanity is facing.
Filippa enrolled in our Politics and International Relations BSc. She decided to join Forward College for the opportunity to travel and live in three different countries. What Filippa also loves about Forward College is the innovative approach to teaching and the opportunity to complete a double degree. In her free time, she likes to travel and explore new places, try new restaurants and spend time with her friends.
