Dr. Miguel Freitas
Assistant professor of Psychology
Dr. Miguel Freitas is a developmental psychologist, and a member of the William James Center for Research at ISPA-Instituto Universitário. He specializes in the study of peer relations as a context for socio-emotional development during adolescence — with a particular interest on the developmental trajectories of youths who are considered at risk for psychosocial maladjustment, as manifested through internalizing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and loneliness.
He has also taught modules on developmental psychology and on basic research methods to a wide range of students, on both BSc and MSc in Psychology at ISPA-Instituto Universitário — the first university to offer a Psychology degree in Portugal — and at Universidade Europeia.
