Flora, 2022 Cohort

Meet Flora from Germany
Flora is a third-year bachelor’s+ student in Politics and International Relations.
She set a clear trajectory early on: at 16, she took the initiative to study at a British boarding school, driven by a strong sense of purpose that combined international education, political engagement, and cultural involvement.
Before joining Forward College, she volunteered with local UNICEF campaigns and the youth wing of the German Green Party while still in secondary school. She also supported the Green Party’s communications during the 2022 state elections and has since worked with the party’s Women’s and Diversity Offices, contributing to policy research on gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights, and co-organising a Diversity Congress. Flora also spent time in Portugal participating in a European Voluntary Service programme focused on environmental restoration and civic outreach, and later lived in France as an au pair.
At Forward, she serves as a Student Life Representative, coordinating events and initiatives that foster student engagement. As part of her social impact project, she she co-founded Love, Portugal, a cultural club that brings together international students and local communities through film screenings and live music.
Why did she join Forward College?
Flora knew early on that she wanted to study in English and in an international setting—not just for the language, but for the perspective it offers. Forward College offered her the chance to keep learning across borders while staying engaged in meaningful, real-world work.
Outside of Forward College
Feminist politics remain central to Flora’s academic and professional aspirations. She sees feminism not only as a cause, but as a critical framework for understanding policy, power, and inclusion.
