Dr. Henrique Veras
Assistant Professor
Henrique was born and raised in Recife, a coastal city in Northeast Brazil. He completed both his BA and MA in Economics at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in his hometown before moving to the United States for his postgraduate studies in 2012. Henrique received a PhD in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2017. After graduation he worked as Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics in two liberal arts colleges in the United States: Oberlin and Centre, before joining Forward College.
While still in Graduate school, Henrique taught classes in Development Economics – his area of expertise – and Economics Statistics for undergraduate students. After completing his PhD, Henrique went on to teach a variety of classes in Economics, including introductory level Principles of Economics and Economic Development, as well as intermediate- and advanced-level courses on Microeconomics, Comparative Economic Development, and Causality in Economic Research.
Henrique joined Forward in 2022 and teaches Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Elements of Econometrics.
