Dr. Giacomo Boffi

Originally from Italy, Giacomo pursued his pre-university education in Lodi. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Politics and Economics cum laude from the University of Milan in 2018, followed by a Master of Science (MSc) in Economic Policy from Utrecht University, in the Netherlands, in 2019. In 2025, Giacomo was awarded a PhD in the Economics and Governance of Migration at the Department of Economics of Leiden University and at Leiden University College, in the Netherlands. His doctoral research consisted of empirical analyses of migrant socio-economic integration in high-income countries, with a focus on Europe.
During his PhD, Giacomo was involved in the teaching activities of the Department of Economics. In particular, he taught the courses Principles of Economics and Comparative Political Economy. He also collaborated with the International Migration Division of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, contributing to a chapter of the 2022 International Migration Review.
As a microeconomist, his research interests include migration, labour, welfare, and education.
Outside of his work, Giacomo is passionate about poetry, cinema, music, and art.
