Local Language & Culture Coordinator, Language and English for Academic Purposes Fellow

Dr. Andreas Strasser coordinates Forward’s Program for Local Language and Culture and teaches German Language and Culture as well as English for Academic Purposes. In his teaching, he encourages students to explore how language and narrative shape individual and shared experience and to consider the tensions between disciplinary frameworks and everyday life.

He holds a PhD in German Studies from Princeton University, where he taught German language and culture courses ranging from beginner to advanced and mentored students in academic writing. Before his PhD, he studied Comparative Literature, Theatre Studies, and Philosophy at Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Edinburgh, and Humboldt Universität Berlin, earning a B.A. from the Peter Szondi Institute at Freie Universität Berlin.

He is also pursuing a degree in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, further developing his research interests in psychoanalysis and its perspectives on cultural phenomena, as well as in narrative, with particular attention to representations of idealizations, violence, and gender dynamics.
