Lecturer in Finance

Christophe Nijdam was born in Marseilles in 1956, where he spent his youth and schooling with the Jesuits. His father is of Dutch origin and his mother is of descent from the French islands. He is a graduate of Sciences-Po Paris and followed postgraduate studies in finance at New York University.

A former banker in the United States in the 80s and 90s, a financial analyst during the subprime crisis, head of a European NGO specialising in post-crisis financial regulation, a member of the stakeholder advisory boards of the European Banking Authority (EBA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), a corporate governance advisor at European level, and then Director General of the French Association of Institutional Investors (Af2i), he is a recognised professional in the financial world.

Over the course of his career, he has given more than 200 contributions in various forms (interviews, articles, tribunes, columns, quotes) in the French and international media (press, radio, television, web), has contributed to or been quoted in more than thirty books and has taken part in more than 30 international conferences or parliamentary hearings at French and European levels.

He is currently a non-executive board director of the French institute for the financial education of the public (Institut pour l’Éducation Financière du Public/IEFP, “La finance pour tous”) and the French association for the defense of minority shareholders (Association de Défense des Actionnaires Minoritaires/ADAM).

Also involved in the academic world, he taught finance at Sciences-Po Paris for eighteen years. He currently teaches it at the Montpellier Business School and at the Forward College under the academic direction of the London School of Economics.
