With some analysts predicting a global shortage of data scientists lasting for the next 10 years, graduates from these programmes will be in demand from companies in fields from finance and e-commerce, to health, sport and retail. Students will also gain the knowledge and skills they need to progress in postgraduate study. The programme balances methodology and application, providing the training needed for employment in numerous fields as a data scientist, analyst or similar. Students will gain the ability to think critically and independently and develop a range of skills and knowledge that marks them out from the crowd.

The building blocks of
the programme

This degree has been designed by a world leading institution in the field of economics and political science as business decisions are more and more driven by data. Data science has become a core skill and meets a rapidly growing demand. It prepares you for postgraduate opportunities and rewarding careers in data science, analytics and other growing fields.

As with all BSc Programmes designed by the LSE (London School of Economics), students take four courses each year, made up of a combination of compulsory and optional choices.

NB: availability of courses depends on student interest, and not all of the above courses may be available for study during years 2 and 3. Some courses carry pre-requisites – please refer to the UoL course list for additional information. Please note that students select a maximum of 4 courses per year of study.

As part of our approach to holistic development of students, Forward College offers personal coaching and 360 skills assessment where students receive evaluative feedback on their cognitive (i.e. academic), social, emotional and practical intelligences.

In the third year of your bachelor’s degree, you will do an internship. An internship gives you the best opportunities to gain valuable work experience, whilst also exploring and testing a career path. Students who accomplish their research or consulting project with an external organisation will ipso facto validate their internship.

Internship
