Fighting financial crime by Dr. Matthew Horsham

Dr. Matthew Horsham will cover an overview of financial crime, and describe the challenges faced by companies in this industry. He will cover examples of fraud and compliance breaches in the context of insurance and banking. We will describe high level approaches to attacking these problems and the role of data science in product design, and solution design. He will end with a wider overview of data science within insurance, challenges faced and potential solutions.

Dr Matthew Horsham is Head of Financial Services at Kainos (UK). He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Manchester. Matt began working in financial crime helping to find fraudulent insurance claims, and then later moved into banking, and compliance (customer screening and anti money laundering). At Kainos, a software engineering and technology firm, Matt leads building a Financial Services business focused in the UK.
