From Year 1, students receive structured training on how AI systems work, their potential and limitations, and how to use them in academically and professionally relevant ways.
Yes, with clear rules. AI is encouraged for all take-home assignments to develop strong AI literacy. However, AI is prohibited in all invigilated, on-site assessments, which are secured with state-of-the-art proctoring. This approach protects academic integrity while ensuring students learn to use AI responsibly and effectively.
The Forward AI Hub is a platform available to all Forward College students, providing secure access to leading AI models, in-house AI tutors tailored to specific disciplines, and an AI Compass that analyses students’ AI usage and provides concrete feedback on prompt quality, depth of reasoning, and multi-model strategies.
The goal is not automation – it is progressive sophistication in how students think with AI. At Forward, students are taught to recognise the difference between using AI as a crutch and using it as a cognitive partner. This means understanding when to delegate tasks to AI, and when to preserve the cognitive effort that builds genuine expertise. The risk of cognitive offloading — outsourcing thinking to the point where critical reasoning atrophies — is taken seriously. The AI Hub is designed to make students more intellectually capable, not less.
AI is integrated into Forward College’s flipped classroom model, supporting students as they prepare course content before class and deepen their understanding of key concepts.
Students also participate in interdisciplinary projects, an AI Bootcamp and activities that explore design thinking, lean startup methods and agentic AI systems.
Yes. Forward College offers two dedicated pathways for students who want to design, analyse, and govern AI-driven systems: the BSc in Data Science & Business Analytics, a full bachelor’s degree focused on data analysis, modelling, and real-world business applications; and the Data Science & AI Major within the Open Bachelor’s, a flexible pathway combining data science, AI fundamentals, and interdisciplinary applications.

Alongside AI literacy, students develop judgement, communication, leadership, resilience and teamwork through relational teaching and the Personal Development Programme, helping them thrive in an AI-driven world.
The 360° Development programme gives students annual peer feedback on social, emotional, and practical skills, coaching sessions to interpret that feedback, and personalised support to design and execute a development plan. The goal is for each student to become the author of their own growth throughout their three years at Forward College.
