Psychology is the driving science behind most digital applications and generates a growing interest from recruiters. Designed by King’s College, this degree will provide you with a contemporary approach to the study of the human mind. You will gain a thorough understanding of human behaviour and learn to apply psychological science to a variety of contemporary and social challenges. There is an emphasis on quantitative and qualitative research methods and statistical analysis with content enriched by the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. With academic direction from King's College, you will:

  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of all the main areas of psychology;
  • Demonstrate the ability to exercise critical judgement in the evaluation of research in the field;
  • Apply a critical understanding of essential concepts, principles and research in psychology,
    and critically evaluate the results, in the context of loosely defined scenarios, using structured
    arguments based in empirical evidence;

Business acumen and leadership develop mainly through guided practice and reflection, not lectures.

This is why teaching is supporting entrepreneurial projects and not the other way round. These projects lie at the crossroad of students’ aspirations and a careful analysis of the problems they wish to solve. All projects are undertaken in teams, must demonstrate a concrete impact, and are supported by our faculty through seminars, pitches, debriefing sessions, and reports.

Forward's Bachelor’s in Business and Leadership includes:

A Social Entrepreneurship Certificate

Taught in year one, this certificate is designed for students who wish to make a difference here and now on issues they care about (climate change inequalities, refugees, education, racism, gender balance…). This certificate leverages the design thinking approach with the following phases:

  • Team set-up: along with two to three of your peers based on a shared aspiration you will define your team rules, and the problem you wish to solve
  • Design: define your target group, analyse their needs through qualitative and quantitative research, explore the relevant literature, synthesize and generate ideas
  • Test and learn: Design your prototype and test it through various iterations until it brings satisfactory results
  • Implement and evaluate: expand your activities based on your earlier results

Forward faculty will support you all along this process with:

  • Methodological material, seminars and workshops for your team to train for each step
  • Assignments and progress reviews to ensure you make regular progress towards impact

Along the way, you will not only make a concrete difference; you will gain highly valuable skills for your future career such as design thinking, methodology, interviewing, project management, market analysis, teamwork, budgeting, impact evaluation, performance management…

+ A Digital Entrepreneurship Certificate

Taught in year two, this certificate is designed for students who wish to venture into creating a digital solution from scratch. This solution may be social- or business-oriented depending on your aspirations. This certificate leverages agile methodology with the following phases:

Get up to speed: Forward Bootcamp will introduce you to the core concepts, technologies, methodologies, and tools of digital solutions development.

Specialise: the Forward modular programme will allow you to specialise in one specific area such as coding, design and visual arts, social networking, web development, or data. You will follow them across the certificate duration in parallel with your project development.

Start your project:

  • Team set-up: collaborate with two to three of your peers based on a shared idea, define your team rules, then refine the problem you wish to solve
  • Strategise: define your target group, refine your value proposition, and analyse competition
  • Design your MVP: define your basic functionalities and implement them in a prototype
  • Optimise: launch the agile improvement cycle: evaluate gaps, enrich your functionalities, plan and prioritise, design, implement, review, and monitor to identify gaps…

Forward faculty will support you all along this process with:

  • Methodological material, workshop for your team to train for each step
  • Challenges and debriefings to ensure you make regular progress towards a successful solution

Along the way, you will not only have created a viable solution; you will gain highly valuable skills for your future career such as: agile design, coding, webmarketing, project management, market analysis, teamwork, budgeting, digital performance management…

+ Consulting in partnership with an international organisation

In year three, you will work as a consulting team to solve problems submitted by international organisations (NGO, corporate, start up or intergovernmental organisation), partners of Forward College.

Assignments will range from exploring business opportunities for a new product, building a communication strategy, co-designing a new solution or campaign…

You will work with professionals and leverage your project management skills, business techniques and digital experience. Our faculty will guide you through consulting methods and techniques to help you deliver impact for the partner organisation.

Expected workload: approx 15h/week on average

+ An Internship Scheme

In the third year of your bachelor's degree, you will do an internship. An internship gives you the best opportunities to gain valuable work experience, whilst also exploring and testing a career path. Forward coaches will be here to guide you in your internship searches and engage with partner organisations around the world to identify opportunities for you.

+ A full Personal Development Programme

Personal Development is focused on building human intelligences that prepare students with skills and mindsets for adaptive futures.

Students develop high self-awareness and resilience, cultural competency, and an approach to leadership that is impact-oriented, practical, empathetic, and collaborative.
