Citizens of all countries must apply for a visa before coming to Portugal, except for:
➔ Citizens of the following EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of
Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland,
Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
➔ Citizens of the European Economic Area: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
➔ Citizens of the following countries: Principality of Andorra and Switzerland.
➔ Citizens of Non-EU/EFTA countries, who hold a valid residence permit of a Schengen
country. Such citizens must request a residence permit for Portugal. If they have the
option to apply for a visa it is recommended.
Procedure for obtaining a student visa for Portugal
As a non EU/EEA/Swiss citizen, you will need to apply for Student Visas and Residence Permits
as you move across the Forward Campuses in the EU.
The procedure described below might vary between countries, so make sure to also check the
procedure with your local visa authority.
