Dr. Martin Binder

Before joining Forward, Dr. Martin Binder was a research fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and subsequently an Associate Professor at the University of Reading. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Potsdam, a research Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies at the University of Munich, and a visiting Scholar at Harvard University. Dr. Binder holds a diplôme from Sciences Po Paris, a Masters degree from the University of Tübingen, and a PhD from the Free University of Berlin. He has taught a wide range of courses on international security, international organisations, international relations theory, and research methods. Dr. Binder current research focuses on the authority and (local) legitimacy of international organisations, on the challenges to the contemporary international order (the rise of non-Western powers, populism), and on the United Nations response to civil conflict. His most recent articles have appeared in the British Journal of Political Science, Global Policy, the Journal of Global Security Studies and International Studies Quarterly.
